Training Cleveland’s Next Generation of Union Pipefitters
The Pipefitter local #120 Cleveland Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee is a nationally recognized, certified and accredited trade school teaching all the skills you need to succeed as a pipefitter, welder, sprinklerfitter, or in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry.
Through a mix of on-the-job training and classroom coursework, we train enrolled apprentices to become Journeyworkers in the Pipefitter Local Union #120. Our union is comprised of Pipe Fitters, Welders, Sprinkler Fitters, and those in the HVAC Service industry in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
Unlike college, our training is free for those who qualify.
As an apprentice, you are a union member and start earning money right away — a percentage of union pipefitter wages that incrementally increases the longer you are in the program. Once 600 to 800 hours of training hours are completed (about 6 months), you are eligible for health insurance for you and your family. You can also start earning a pension.
The Pipefitter Local Union #120 has over 100 years of history and a current membership of over 1,700. Our members install and maintain a diverse array of piping systems, from steam systems to heating and cooling hydronic systems, refrigeration piping to power process piping.
Our school is a career builder. We offer countless opportunities and training programs for our members to continue their education. Our members can train and learn new skills to increase their employment opportunities and remain vital in the workforce. We offer members skilled training in over 100 different welding applications.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the UA Education and Training Department is to equip United Association locals with educational resources for developing the skills of their apprentices and journeyworkers. By thus facilitating the training needs of the membership, we maximize their employability and prepare them for changes in the industry.
We are committed to making training opportunities available across North America, allowing members to acquire new skills and remain competitive in the industry regardless of geography. In this way, we are determined to meet the needs of the piping industry and enhance employment opportunities for our members, while remaining fiscally responsible to the beneficiaries of the fund.
